What specific skills are taught during a group mountain bike lesson at Stratton Mountain?
Group mountain bike lessons at Stratton focus on foundational and advanced downhill techniques tailored to participants' skill levels. Expert coaches guide riders through precise bike setup and operation, proper body positioning, efficient braking, cornering, and the mechanics of jumping. Participants are matched with riders of similar abilities, ensuring that everyone receives individualized attention and coaching feedback within a collaborative group environment.
How do private mountain bike lessons differ from group lessons at Stratton Mountain?
Private mountain bike lessons offer a completely customized curriculum designed around your personal riding goals and experience level. Whether you are a beginner experiencing lift-serviced terrain for the first time or an advanced rider looking to master technical singletrack, your dedicated coach adapts the pace and focus of the day to you. Private lessons provide one-on-one trail guiding and targeted skill development for jumping, cornering, and navigating steep descents at your own speed.
Are bike rentals and lift tickets included with Stratton Mountain bike lessons?
Mountain bike lessons do not automatically include lift tickets or equipment rentals unless specifically booked as part of a learn-to-ride package. All participants in a Stratton Mountain lesson or clinic must have a valid Bike Park lift ticket or season pass to access the mountain. Downhill mountain bikes, full-face helmets, and protective pads can be reserved online in advance through the resort rental shop located at the base of the mountain.
Does Stratton Mountain offer specialized mountain bike camps for kids and youth riders?
Yes, Stratton Mountain features dedicated daily youth camps and mountain bike programs designed specifically for kids. These summer programs focus on building confidence, trail etiquette, and essential bike handling skills in a fun, safety-first environment. Young riders explore the progression trails at the Stratton Bike Park under the supervision of professional coaches, making it an ideal summer outdoor experience for families visiting Vermont.
What should I bring and wear to a scheduled mountain bike lesson at Stratton?
Participants should wear comfortable, athletic clothing suitable for the weather, sturdy closed-toe shoes or flat-soled sneakers, sunglasses or goggles, and full-fingered bike gloves. A properly fitted helmet is mandatory for all riders in the Stratton Bike Park, and a full-face helmet is highly recommended for downhill trails. We also advise bringing a hydration pack or water bottle, sunscreen, and any personal protective gear like knee and elbow pads to ensure a comfortable day on the mountain. Helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads are available for rent and included with any mountain bike rental. Goggles, sunglasses and gloves are available for purchase in the Stratton Bike Shop.
