Sink or Skim
Spring weekends include some of the best events of the season, where goggle tans and t-shirts are the outfits of choice as we enjoy spring's soft snow, longer days and sunshine. Try not to take a dip during the 2026 Pond Skim at Stratton on March 28, 2026. The pond is open as participants try to skim across the water's surface and make it out the other side just as dry as they entered.
Come ready to skim the pond on your skis and snowboards, dressed in your favorite costume. We'll select multiple winners judged on Best Costume, Best Skim, and Best Crash, aka "You Got Pickled." An event that is just as fun to watch as it is to enter, join us to see who sinks and who skims.
Participants must check-in in at the main base lodge from 8-9AM before the start of the event for bibs and t-shirts.
All participants must wear helmets for their runs, or they will be turned away. Participants must go down individually; no double skis, pulling items, or ski poles are allowed for safety. Breaking any of these rules will disqualify participants with no refunds.
Participants will be allowed to purchase a discounted ticket at the ticket window on the day of the event. All participants must have a valid season pass or lift ticket to participate.
