Camp Programs

Programs vary by day but core group activities focus on art, mountain exploration, sports, and swimming.

Art

Our approach to art draws inspiration from the great outdoors and nature that surrounds us here in the Green Mountains. Art projects will use natural materials, mixed media and tie-dye. All materials are supplied.

Sporting Activities

Our athletic goal is to develop young children into lifetime sporting enthusiasts. We do this with a proven program of athletic development that begins to teach our campers the FUNdamentals for successful movement essential in all athletic endeavors. Extensive research has shown that the younger children begin with structured movement-based training the faster they develop athletically. Our program incorporates instruction into fun sessions that will have your child begging to come back to camp.

Golf and tennis classes will also be offered on a weekly basis, hosted at The Drysdale Tennis School and Stratton Golf School.

Outdoor Exploration

Our program of outdoor activities is designed to get campers outside, educated and enjoying the scenic natural environment that is Stratton Mountain. Specific activities include map and compass work, survival skills, hiking and hiking etiquette, kayaking, and mountain safety education.

Swimming

The stunning lakes and rivers of Vermont are all around us and we will instill a love and respect for water at a young age.  All counselors are CPR certified and trained according to the AHA standards. The campers will swim in an outdoor pool that has both a low-end and a deep-end; they fully supervised at all times.

Team Building and Competition

We believe that teamwork and competition go hand -in-hand, and are an integral part of growing up. Our weekly team competitions foster a sense of camaraderie and passion within our campers. They'll strive to do the best for their team and in the process form closer bonds with their fellow campers, making friends for life.

Other exciting activities and camp events: Friday Pizza Party, capture the flag and Slip n Slide.

FAQs
What does my child need?
Children are required to bring a bathing suit, towel, sun block, bug spray, comfortable clothes and sneakers. Appropriate equipment is provided, but children should bring gear they are using, such as tennis requests or golf clubs (if they have chosen that program).

What should my child pack for tennis camp?
All your child needs is gym clothing, sneakers or tennis shoes, a racquet, and a bathing suit if they wish to swim. We also encourage children to bring sunscreen and wear a hat. If your child does not have a racquet then we do a limited number of spares that can be used.

Can my child take private lessons?
Private lessons can be scheduled at the end of the camp day at the additional cost.

What if it rains?
We move indoors and adjust our schedule to fit as many as possible in the best possible environment. We have two indoor courts as well as the 15,000 sq ft recreation space for indoor tennis, basketball, soccer and floor hockey.

What happens if a camper breaks the rules?
We take our responsibility of ensuring a camper’s safety very seriously; therefore our enforcement of rules and regulations is quite strict. Cliff Drysdale Tennis reserves the right to remove a child from camp and send them home without refund should their actions break the rules and/or endanger themselves, their peers, or our staff.
