Vermont's swimming holes are the place to be when the temperatures soar. Some are more open to the public, while others are carved into the surrounding landscape. These are a few options within a short distance of Stratton Mountain Resort.

DORSET QUARRY
This well known hotspot lies less than a half-hour away from Stratton Mountain Resort. The water is all fresh, nestled into the strikingly beautiful marble quarry and as you can see, the site is large enough to handle the busiest of summer afternoons. Keep a close watch out for some unique artwork carved right into the marble.

GROUT POND
A scenic, quaint hidden Vermont gem just 10 miles from Stratton Mountain Resort, Grout Pond is smack dab in the middle of the mountains and remains largely secluded with the exception of summer campsites.

HAMILTON FALLS
Hamilton Falls is an extremely beautiful, secluded waterfall less than 40 minutes from Stratton Mountain Resort. Here, fresh water cascades into three large pools amid the bedrock. Of the three spots, it is recommended that swimmers stick to the bottom area, access to the top is limited to a ladder bolted into the rock.

PIKES FALLS
This two tiered waterfall in nearby Jamaica descends some 20 feet into a very large pool below. Located just over five miles from Stratton Mountain Resort, Pikes Falls was named for Isaac Pike, who built a sawmill at this site in 1846.

TAYLOR FARM
Taylor Farm is a 180 year old working dairy farm located miles away from Stratton Mountain Resort in nearby Londonderry. Visitors here can not only pick up the finest in Vermont cheeses, but see first hand how it's made.

FARMERS MARKETS
When you can't go to the farm, let the farmers bring the farm to you. Farmers Markets are an opportunity for local growers to bring their vegetables, maple syrup, fruits, berries and cheeses right to you. A plethora of markets exist within a short driving distance of Stratton Mountain Resort including the Brattleboro Farmers Market, always stocked with live music, the Manchester Farmers Market, the Newfane Farmers Market and the Arlington Farmers Market.

ICE CREAM
The biggest name in Ice Cream, and possibly all of Vermont is Ben and Jerry's, with their factory and graveyard of flavors past in Waterbury, about a two hour drive away from Stratton Mountain Resort. Yet Vermonters from Brattleboro to Burlington have put their own touches on au natural ice cream for generations with small, locally owned ice cream stands and shops throughout the state. COMMUNITY EFFORT
Here at Stratton Mountain Resort, employees have also gotten into the act by planting a vegetable garden over at the Sun Bowl. Some employees, like Employee Experience Manager Sara Colgan also practice what they preach on the side, Colgan just opened a local wine and cheese shop in nearby Colchester.
