Stratton Trails |
Easiest Way to the Summit (by foot):
Lower Wanderer – Lower West Meadow – Work Road – Mike's Way
A combination of gravel work road and mowed surface. Excellent views from West Meadow and Mike's Way. If you get tired, a mid-mountain turn around option is available via Interstate to Lower Standard.
Approximately 2.5 miles from bottom to top
Average Hiking Time: 1.5 – 2 Hours (one way)
Fire Tower Trail:
Follow this trail from the Summit of Stratton to the old Fire Tower, which marks the true summit of Stratton Mountain and the crossing of the Long and Appalachian Trails. Check in with Tower hosts for the latest trail news, or climb the tower for 360 views of the surrounding area.
Approximately .75 miles each way. Little to no elevation gain.
Lower Mountain Beginner Loop:
Old Log Road – Hemlock – Lower Standard
Moderate up and downhill climbs. Start on Lower Standard for a more challenging climb, or stick to Log Road for a warm up or hikes with smaller children.
Approximately 1.1 miles round trip
Lower Mountain Intermediate Loop:
Old Log Road – Hemlock – Tink's Link – Yodeler
Moderate up and downhill climbs. Follow Tink's Link to Mid Mountain for a good place to eat your picnic lunch. A combination of gravel work road and mowed surface. You can hike this loop in either direction—starting on the Yodeler side will provide a more challenging uphill climb.

Intermediate Route to the Summit:
Yodeler – Ursa Access – Old No. 8 – Black Bear
Excellent views of the Valley are afforded from various vistas on Black Bear. Enjoy the flats across URSA Access--the pitch kicks it up a notch as you climb Old No. 8 and Black Bear!

Average Hiking Time: 1.5 – 2 Hours (one way)
Advanced Route to the Summit:
Lower Standard – Upper Standard
This mowed route follows the gondola straight up the face of the mountain. Expect to find a series of steep pitches as you climb Upper Standard. Don't worry—you can always turn onto Interstate and follow Interstate to Work Road for a more mellow end to your climb!

Average Hiking Time: 1.5 – 2 Hours (one way)
** Our Summit Gondola is open Weekends and Holidays through Columbus Day from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. Downloading on the Gondola is complimentary for hikers.
