I've never been skiing or snowboarding, what should I wear?
Temperatures at Stratton in the winter can vary widely depending on the month and the current weather. It's not uncommon for temperatures to dip into the single digits or to rise into the 40's. Therefore, it is important to dress in layers. Wearing several layers will keep you warm on the coldest of days, but also allow you to easily remove clothing on the warmer days. Materials made of synthetic fibers work best because they "breath" or wick away moisture. Cotton loses its ability once to keep you warm once it becomes wet.
Snowpants, a winter parka, gloves, hat, headband and/or helmet should be worn on all occasions. A pair of sunglasses or snow goggles are also highly recommended to protect your eyes from the wind and sun. For more information, check out our Gore-Tex Comfort Tips.
Stratton has three designated parking areas. Lot 1 is the closest of the three to the Main Base Lodge and is only a five minute walk from the Lodge or a short ride aboard one of our ski shuttles. On busy days Lot 1 tends to fill up quickly.
Lot 2, several minutes up the road from Lot 1, serves as a parking area in the event Lot 1 fills up and has a large parking capacity. Ski buses run non-stop throughout the day to transport guests to and from Lot 2 to the Main Base Lodge.
The Sun Bowl offers the easiest and most convenient parking. Located less than two miles from the Main Base Lodge, the Sun Bowl features a full service base lodge, nordic trails and lift access via the Sunriser Express and Solstice Lift.
There is also valet and permit parking available at a charge. For more information on these parking options call 1-800-Stratton.
