I've never been skiing or snowboarding, what should I wear?
Temperatures can vary widely, dipping from single digits and lower to highs in the 40s. Dressing in layers allows you to adapt to changing temperatures throughout the day. Synthetic fibers work best because they "breath" or wick away moisture. Cotton loses its ability once to keep you warm once it becomes wet. Snowpants, a winter parka or shell, ski gloves or mittens and hat should always be worn. Helmets and snow goggles are also highly recommended. You can find everything you need at Stratton Sports or one of the other shops in Stratton Village. You’ll find skier necessities such as hand warmers, at the Comfort Zone in the Main Base Lodge or at the Sun Bowl.
HELMET USE: Stratton Mountain recommends wearing helmets for skiing and riding. Skiers and riders are encouraged to educate themselves on the benefits and limitations of helmet usage. The primary safety consideration, and obligation under Your Responsibility Code is to ski and ride in a controlled and responsible manner.
