Stratton Mountain, VT - What better way to end the year than with a big contest and even bigger openings to tell you about.

Lower Middlebrook, a 2,000 foot, 15 acre jib park, the largest at Stratton and one of the biggest in Vermont, opens to skiers and riders on Wednesday. And those who aren't already friends of Stratton Mountain on Facebook, will want to sign up now, as the best viral video from the new trail will be rewarded with a pair of Smith Gauge Regulator goggles for their work. (Retail Value $129.99)

All shredders have to do is shoot a 1-2 minute video of them, their friends, their dog, their significant other or anyone skiing and riding on Lower Middlebrook. They will then upload their creation to Stratton's Facebook page www.facebook.com/strattonmountain where fans will vote for the best video and the eventual winner.

Voting will be done on a 'like' basis, by clicking the 'like' button alongside the video. The most 'likes' between Dec. 30 and 3:00 PM Eastern on Jan. 13 determines the winner. ALL entries must include helmeted riders. No helmet. No prize.

That's not all!

Two other openings took place last weekend including the boardercross course complete with sharp turns, gap jumps, peaks and valleys on East Byrneside. One very important rider gave her seal of approval after riding yesterday, that being 2006 Olympic silver medalist and Stratton native Lindsey Jacobellis.

Ryan Neptune from Planet Design is on site and working alongside the Stratton Grooming and Snowboarding Team in hopes of opening by Martin Luther King weekend.
