Stratton Mountain to Host 2nd Annual Distributed Energy Conference on May 15
Stratton Mountain, VT- The phrases “going green” and “living sustainably” can often be heard in the media, academia and in everyday conversation. But what does it mean to “go green”? And how does one make these changes in their own life? Learn how to make a difference while at the same time making an economically intelligent investment for your home or business when Stratton Mountain Resort plays host to the 2nd Annual Distributed Energy Conference presented by Renewable Energy Vermont.
The day-long conference will focus on distributed and renewable energy solutions such as customer sited combined heat and power projects, district heating systems, community wind plants, targeted energy efficiency measures and building local bio-fuel supplies. Professionals, business owners, homeowners, and members of the local community are all encouraged to attend and will be provided with relevant information and practical solutions to every day energy saving problems.
The conference will begin at 7:30 am on Thursday May 15 and conclude at 3:30 pm. Information panels, exhibitions, and keynote speakers such as Jeffrey Wolfe, CEO of GroSolar, Tom Bourgeois of the Pace Law School Energy Project and Vermont Lt. Governor Brian Dubie will make up the bulk of the days activities. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
Stratton Mountain Resort has always had a soft spot for sustainability and an intrinsic relationship with the natural environment where progress and development don’t come at the expense of natural resources. Ski and golf resorts inherently have a large impact on their surrounding environment and because of this, have a practical and ethical obligation to operate as efficiently as possible. In 2006, Stratton purchased 16,500,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy credits from Renewable Choice Energy, offsetting 100% of electricity consumption for the next three years. Over the years, Stratton has been touted as an environmentally conscientious resort, receiving numerous industry awards including the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence and Pollution Prevention. The Environment is Stratton’s number one asset!
Local and global sustainability is no longer the ethical choice but now the only choice as a consumption oriented population grows exponentially every year. Distributed energy solutions not only have the potential to provide lower costs, higher service reliability, higher quality power, and increased energy efficiency, but can also stimulate local economic development. Learn how to make a difference at the 2nd Annual Distributed Energy Conference presented by Renewable Energy Vermont.
