Award Winning All-Vermont ‘Stratton’ Burger now Available at the Blue Moon Cafe
Stratton Mountain, VT- This summer, The Blue Moon Café has changed the face of dining in the Stratton Village. The name may be familiar to some but the menu is brand new and features a short, yet eclectic mix of tasty items made using local Vermont ingredients. Try a Green Mountain spin off of the classic grilled cheese which uses Grafton Cheddar, Taylor Farm Gouda, and Blythedale Farm Brie, served in a grilled Panini. Other items include a Curry Chicken Salad Wrap made from locally raised chickens and topped with local organic lettuce and tomato, as well as the newly conceived and now famous Stratton Burger!
In June, Stratton employees Kristen Matusik, John Darling and Kurt Williams packed their burger making ingredients and headed for the Vermont Ski Areas Association ski burger contest held at Mount Snow. A couple of hours and a few satiated judges later, they returned with the Vermont Ski Burger Contest’s “People’s Choice” Award and an idea to serve it in one of Stratton’s restaurants.
The Stratton Burger is made from all natural Vermont ground beef, topped with Blythedale Farm Brie cheese, maple glazed Prosciutto, locally grown baby greens and tomato, and served on a toasted roll. “It’s no secret that Vermonters value local business and locally produced goods and services, so the idea of a burger and then later a whole restaurant devoted to local production makes a lot of sense” says Van Houten.
The Blue Moon Café is open for lunch Thursday through Monday 11a.m. to 3p.m. and is the only place to try the totally local, totally delicious, award winning Stratton Burger.
