Dance, Louie, Dance! |
STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vt. – Stratton Mountain School alumnus Louie Vito knows how to ride the pipe, but his moves on the dance floor may be a different story.
Vito is one of 16 contestants on the ninth season of ABC's hit television show 'Dancing With the Stars'. The US Open regular and 2009 U.S. Grand Prix champion hopes to follow in the footsteps of the many successful athletes on the show, including past champions Shawn Johnson, Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Anton Ohno.
"I'm not changing who I am," Vito said. "I'm still a snowboarder. I still act like who I act like and I'm having fun."
The 21 year-old is paired with Chelsie Hightower, who in the eighth season of the show finished in fourth place with professional bull rider Ty Murray. Other competitors include former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin, musician Aaron Carter, TV personality Donny Osmond, Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin, sitcom star Melissa Joan Hart and reality TV star Kelly Osborne.
Vito hopes to cap his appearance on the show by qualifying for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, where he is one of the favorites to make the U.S. Olympic Team.
