Center of It All

The center of it all

Moons circle the Earth, the Earth circles the sun, endless possibilities surround Stratton. Use Stratton as base camp as you explore the cool Green Mountains of southern Vermont.

Whether you hike or ride the Gondola, spending a day atop the Stratton Mountain summit offers more than just a different perspective of the resort. The highest peak in southern Vermont affords you a 360 degree view which includes the Green Mountains, White Mountains, Adirondacks and Berkshires. Refuel over a picnic lunch and push yourself a little further to the historic fire tower. Just a 1.4 mile roundtrip walk from the summit, the 55 foot fire tower is topped off by a glass-enclosed lookout.

From the Long Trail to local farms, the Dorset Playhouse to the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester, there are excursions all around the resort.

It might not take a local to realize the region lends itself to long days in the water but it surely doesn't hurt to have local knowledge to guide you in the right direction. Vermont swimming holes are as much a part of summer in the state as a hearty serving of Ben and Jerry's. The likes of Pikes Falls, Grout Pond, Hamilton Falls and the Dorset Query (conveniently near the Dorset farmers market) are all within a short distance of Stratton. Pack a sandwich, your skivvies and dive right in!

The farmers markets – from Londonderry to Dorset – to delight your taste buds and bring a treat back to your friends.
