Stratton Receives Annual Industry Safety Award

NSAA 2010-2011 Best Employee Involvement & Education

STRATTON MOUNTAIN, VERMONT, April 20, 2011 – The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) has recognized Stratton Mountain Resort with the annual National Ski Area Safety Award for Best Employee Involvement and Education.

“Keeping everyone safe is a daunting task that requires full mountain commitment and cooperation,” said Safety and Risk Manager Seth Boyd. “From Safety Patrol to ski school to lift operators, it is our duty to ensure that all our employees are on board with, and well versed in, our safety initiatives before they head out on the hill, whether for fun or for work.”

Recipient of one of only twelve Safety Awards, the NSAA commended Stratton for doing an “outstanding job of educating employees…about skiing and snowboarding responsibly.”

The NSAA award comes on the heels of Stratton being recognized by the state of Vermont for top health and safety in the workplace. Governor Peter Shumlin and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports honored Stratton for supporting employee wellness and promoting good health on and off the job. Stratton was the sole ski resort in Vermont to receive this distinction.
