About Alpine Racing |
Alpine Race Program:
The Alpine Race Program utilizes a blend of methodology taken from the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) This is a skills based approach that is designed first and foremost to be fun and then to develop strong skiing skills that eventually translate into success on the race hill. By facilitating a love of the sport we are helping each athlete to be the best that they can be.
Alpine Racing is in session all weekends from November 28 to March 28, as well as Winter Break (December 26-January 3), Martin Luther King Day (January 18th) and President's Week (February 15-19).
USSA and VARA (Vermont Alpine Racing Association) are the bodies which govern ski racing in Vermont. VARA has three councils; the Southern Vermont Council (SVC) which we belong, the Mid Vermont Council, and the Northern Vermont Council.
STC racers up to the J-3 level participate in the Southern Vermont Council Races. The ski programs comprising the SVC are Stratton, Bromley, Magic, Mount Snow, and Willard Mountain in New York.
