Preparing Expert All-Mountain sKiers

We created PEAK, previously referred to as DUST, as a seasonal program for young adults between the ages of thirteen and eighteen.  PEAK is for expert teen skiers, who do not want to compete.  From our conversations with Stratton parents we saw the need to develop a new program for these young skiers, which would expand their children's skiing abilities and encourage their kids to come to Vermont for enjoyable outdoor weekends.

Stratton has a variety of seasonal programs set up to bring kids to an expert skiing ability by the age of 12.  However, once they reach the maximum age for those programs they must move on to either Racing or Allegro, both competitive programs.  We created PEAK for young adults who do not want to move on to a competitive program, but would like to continue to learn to ski aggressively.

PEAK will be a safe, structured, but most of all FUN, learning environment for your teens in which they can work on advanced skiing techniques while enjoying the company of their peers.  PEAK will encourage teens to continue skiing in Vermont on the weekends (and that means the whole family can enjoy the weekend at Stratton).

PEAK will allow young adults to excel in terrain that includes Double Black Diamonds, Moguls, Parks, Glades, Nastar Course, and Steep Groomed Terrain.  Teens will learn an all mountain technique of skiing, which will give them the skills necessary to ski safely on any mountain (preferably Stratton).  Participants will leave the PEAK program with knowledge of the mountain, expert skiing abilities, and respect for other skiers.

In addition to skiing, we want to introduce your children to all of the other outdoor winter sports that Stratton has to offer.  Après ski activities will be offered for additional socialization.  We will give PEAK participants the opportunity to tell us what they want to do; and, with their suggestions, and some of our own exciting ideas, we hope to plan excursions that they will attend and enjoy.

We hope to foster the love that we all share for Stratton Mountain. We hope that teens will take advantage of this unique opportunity to spend their weekends outdoors with their "Stratton" friends.

Our program will have two fun-filled sessions:  8:30 am to 11:30 am and 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm.  This will ad an extra half-hour of time together. With an early start to the day, other ticket holders will have to catch the PEAK skiers dust, as we explore all that Stratton has to offer!

We look forward to working with your teens!
