Please join us in welcoming our new Training Manager, Sara Colgan, to the HR Team. Sara comes to us from The Woodstock Inn & Resort and prior to living in Vermont worked for the Seaport Companies in Boston. Sara grew up in Gill, MA and graduated from Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration. Sara will be handling Stratton's training initiatives including revamping New Hire Orientation, creating a Customer Service Program and working with individual departments to determine specific training needs. Make sure to stop by the HR Office to welcome Sara to the Stratton team!
No longer are the days of at home sorting; all your recycling needs can now be met with one blue bin!! Here at Stratton Mountain we have an all inclusive recycling system making being green even easier. Your very own Stratton Green Team took a trip to Chittenden Solid Waste to see the life of a recyclable object beyond the blue bin. From here our cleaned yet un-sorted recyclables take a trip to Williston, VT they are both sorted by machine and hand. The bails of paper and crushed tins leave the waste department with under a 5% contamination. This means you can fill your blue bins with paper, cardboard, newspaper, recyclable plastics, aluminum, and glass without having to feel guilty. If you not sure what plastic is ok to toss in the blue bin use these rules as a guide: No filmy plastic (plastic you can stick your finger through and break) and nothing smaller than two inches in two directions. Be kind to our friends at CSWD, RINSE!!!!
HR is gearing up for the winter months. If you know folks looking for winter work send them our way!!
Stratton has many winter opportunities available. Seeking friendly, engaged, passionate, applicants!!
The fall is approaching and the winter months are lingering ominously behind. Keep yourself healthy this winter season by paying extra attention to relaxation. Some tips to keep your mind and body in tip top shape are:
Listen to soothing music, Go for a walk,
Take a hot bath, Meditate, Yoga,
Breathing Exercises, Massage, and scheduled down time with an activity of your choice. Whether it's curling up on the couch with a good book or going to the gym "me" time will make all the difference.
The Stratton Bears have had a riveting season , but no need to fear, the shinanigans are not done!! Finishing in a three way tie for first place the Bears have the opportunity to take the league and become renowned world champs...well, Manchester League champs anyway. With Andy's flaming pitches, Winkler's snatches from mid-air, and "Big Pop Up" behind the plate the Bears are going to make Manchester League history!! The Bears have won the first round of play offs. Check the schedule and come cheer us on. Be there or Be home...the choice is yours.
The Stratton Senior Leadership Team has been plugging away at the much awaited "Points System." It is my pleasure to announce that starting this October the Points System will be rolled out for all Core and Regular employees and come November it will be rolled out for our seasonal employees. This system is in response to the growing concern that some people get more from Stratton based on their family size. In an attempt to equal the playing field the Points System will allow every employee a certain number of points. These points will be used to "buy" your benefits. Someone that doesn't ski can get a gym membership instead of a seasons pass or "buy" a pass for a friend. Kudos to the Senior Leadership Team on this innovative benefits system!!! Details will follow...
Old CD's and DVD's that are no longer behaving can be polished and given new life with a simple home remedy. Gently polish the scratched surface with a spot of toothpaste and a clean rag and watch your CD's spin as good as new!!!
Don't forget to get gas on Wed mornings at the UGB! As of 8/6/08 gas was $3.62/gallon and $4.62 for diesel. Please pay by cash or check and bring your employee ID. Need a new card? Come visit HR!!
Sick of the evening shuffle to make the bank on Fridays? Stratton is now offering a check cashing service on pay days from 4pm—5pm at the Sales Center. If you would like to avoid rushing to the bank, let your manager know to sign you up by the Monday before pay day. You can also sign up for direct deposit in Human Resources.
Do you know something we don't?? If you think you have a gem of information that Stratton employees need to know, e-mail Tara Cosgriff at tcosgriff@intrawest.com. Maybe you'll see it here next month :)
