Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is the Golf University new at Stratton?
A. No, actually the Stratton Golf University was founded in 1969 by Arnold Palmer, and began as a junior school. The Stratton Golf University has been an adult school since 1978.
Q. What should I bring with me?
A. You should bring your clubs and a supply of balls (only needed for your on-course play). Golf shoes are best, but sneakers or other soft-soled shoes are fine. For added comfort we suggest you wear a golf glove- possibly one for each hand. We also suggest that golfers who wear bifocal lenses bring a pair of single vision glasses if possible; it can make a beg difference in your swing.
Q. I am a beginner and I don't have golf clubs, should I go and buy them.
A. No, if you don't have golf clubs they will be provided for you. While you are here you have an option to be fitted for the proper size clubs and given a written recommendation so that you can make a wise purchase in golf equipment. You should, however, bring golf balls if you plan on playing on the course.
Q. Is there a dress code?
A. Yes, no blue jeans, short-shorts, cutoffs, or t-shirts please. Men must wear collared shirts; mock turtlenecks are acceptable. (The dress code is the same as Golf Course dress code.)
Q. My husband and I are different abilities; will we be in the same class?
A. No, students are grouped in no more than a 5:1 student to pro ratio based on ability level. On special request we can group people of different ability levels together, however please keep in mind that the more advanced person will not get as much out of the school.
Q. Will the same golf pro be my instructor each day?
A. Yes, this will allow for continuity of instruction.
Q. Can I request a specific instructor or a female instructor?
