USASA Snowboard and Freeski Series

The USASA Southern Vermont Snowboard and Freeski Series returns to Stratton for 6 events - three rail jams, two boarder/skiercross competitions and a banked slalom event. As the second largest of 35 regions throughout the country, the USASA series has established a sound reputation by offering fun, fair events in a relaxed competitive atmosphere. Riders and skiers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate, wounded warriors, and adaptive action sports athletes welcomed.

The rail jams will take place on Tyro, where Bubba and the park crew create a sweet rail arena with different lines for all ability levels. Each event will feature a modified set-up.

The boarder/ skiercross take place on East Byrnside on the custom terrain course. An exciting event to watch, skiers and riders race down a terrain course four at a time with the top two finishers advancing to the next round. Course features include banked turns, roller and tabletops.

The banked slalom will be held on Suntanner. The event with be the only in the series and will serve as the SVSS  National qualifier. First place finisher in each age group qualifies for USASA Nationals. Banked slalom is a timed run through a gated banked turns.

All events are followed by an awards ceremony and prize raffle. Finishers earn point towards USASA Nationals Championships.

Saturday, January 4 on Tyro
Sunday, January 19 on Tyro (finals)

Rail Jam Competition Format
7:30-8:30am: Registration and bib pick-up, Bears Den, 3rd floor of Base Lodge
9-10am: Competitor warm-up
10:05am: Mandatory riders meeting 
10:10am: Age group jams start. Participants compete against skiers/riders of the same age.
2pm: Awards and raffle in contest arena

Pre-register: Visit USASA here to register and submit at least seven days in advance. Pre-registered skiers and riders must check-in by 8:30 am on the day of the jam in Bears Den of the Base Lodge.
Fee: $65, includes lift ticket
USASA membership required to register. Join here. New members are eligible for a one-day trial membership.

Saturday & Sunday, January 24-25 on East Byrneside
Saturday & Sunday, February 7-8 on East Byrneside

Skier/Boarder Cross Competition Format
7:30-8:30am: Registration and bib pick-up, West Wing of Base Lodge
8:45-9am: Course inspection, (side-slipping/slow speed)
9-9:30am: Boarder/Skier Cross Practice
9:35am: Mandatory riders meeting
9:45am: Timed runs begin, followed by time-based heats
2:30pm: Awards

SVSS Banked Slalom Championships - Sunday, March 2

The banked slalom will be held on Suntanner. The event with be the only in the series and will serve as the SVSS  National qualifier. First place finisher in each age group qualifies for USASA Nationals. Banked slalom is a timed run through a gated banked turns. All competitors take two runs and the fastest single run time determines ranking.

Competition Format:
7-8:30am - Registration ($65) in West Wing of Base Lodge
9am - Practice
10am - First Run
