Our certified yoga teachers provide excellent instruction to newbies and experienced practitioners. We offer a full schedule of weekly classes, private instruction, private groups, and special workshops. Classes are held in the Living Room - our beautiful, new yoga studio at the Inn at Stratton Mountain; the Sports Center; on Stratton's Summit, Mid-Mountain, and other resort locations. Practicing yoga helps one increase flexibility, strength, balance, focus, and mindfulness. It is perfect for athletes who are strong and tight, as well as seniors, children, and everyone in-between.
Yoga Guidelines: Yoga is practiced barefoot. Wear comfortable clothes. Drink water before and after class. Do not eat within an hour of class. Tell instructor if you have to leave class early. Turn cell phones off. Do not enter class after start time. Bring an open mind and a willing spirit.

While living in Brooklyn, Laura began yoga teacher training with Eileen Muir at Karuna Yoga and Healing Arts Center in Northampton, MA. Laura has continued to inform her practice and her teaching through intensives, immersions and several 10 day Vipassana meditation retreats, as taught by SN Goenka. She hopes that by continued and determined practice she may be of service to others on the path, linking breath to movement, and linking movement on the mat to a life of courage and sincerity off the mat.
Having immediately connected with the focused flow of her first Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga class in 2008; by Spring 2011 Sally completed Level I, Level II, Assistant Training with Baron Baptiste and received a 200 hour certification fromLifeline Power Yoga, registered with the Yoga Alliance. In April 2013 she completed a 500 hour certification with Live Love Teach. Sally is demanding and motivating, yet sensitive and patient. She builds on the needs of every individual and yet challenges her students in refreshing and inspiring ways.
A Vermont resident since 1995, and teaching yoga here for six years, Kristi became interested in yoga after giving birth to my daughter, Chloe in 2001. Five years later, she found myself absorbed in teacher training with Shiva Rea, in Santa Monica, California. While in California, In between level 1and 2, Kristi sustained a life threatening accident, which resulted in several broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. She didn't know if she would ever do another downward facing dog. Western-doctors in both UCLA and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center concurred that yoga saved her life, and from that moment on, Kristi felt yoga changed her life. She healed miraculously, and never turned back. Within 5 months of her accident, Kristi returned to California, and completed her training with Shiva Rea. She continued healing, raising her daughter, and training with many amazing yogis, Rodney Yee, Cindy Lee, Ana Forrest, and Sean Corn. Kristi is also a loyal Krishna Das devotee, soaking in his amazing chanting gifts whenever he is close by.
Kristi describes the yoga she teaches as mostly VInyasa Flow. Her classes tend to be a blend of all the great teachers she has studied with, and most of all, from the best teachers, her students. This lends itself to a unique blend in every class she teaches, including vinyasa flow, pranayama, meditation, strength and core work, chanting, trance dance, mind, body spirit connections, and more.
A Vermont resident since 1994 and always into fitness, Melanie found yoga at Stratton 3 years ago and was quickly hooked. Encouraged to become a teacher by her teachers; (Sally, Kristi and Lynne) Melanie received her 200 hour certification from the School of Yoga Institute in the practice of Sadhana Yoga and is working on her 500 certification with the same school.
Melanie teaches a blend of Sadhana Hatha Flow, which is slower more meditative sequence inspired by the Sivananda tradition, and a Sadhana Vinyasa Flow, which is faster, heat building practice, inspired by the Ashtanga tradition.
15 years ago, avid ski racer and equestrian Polly Schmid was suffering from terrible back pain, seeing doctors weekly. Diagnosed with Scoliosis, pain was keeping Polly from participating in the many sports she loves to do. That is when she turned to yoga, and with dedicated practice, not only did her back pain go away, but life became easier and much less stressful. Polly became hooked on yoga, and has since obtained three yoga certifications, and is currently working on her 500 Hour. Polly hopes to pass the mind/body/spirit connection and freedom she's attained, to her students.
Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT 200) who resides in Dorset, Vermont with her family. She spontaneously took an opportunity to become a teacher and in turn found herself transforming on this unanticipated life changing, soul stretching journey of purpose. Kaitlyn’s focus is on giving yourself permission to be present and in doing so igniting the tapas and zeal for living your best possible life. She feels that regardless of the tenacity of the everyday, stepping onto your mat instantly gives you pause to shift and root yourself into what makes you feel alive and passionate. Kaitlyn is very enthusiastic to share her love of yoga and root herself in the community. She focuses on tuning her students into the sensations of their bodies, with an emphasis on realizing, accepting and embracing limitations. Instead of focusing on perfect postures, she recognizes the beauty of our individualities and creates Vinyasa flows that foster safe, self-expressive movement. Kaitlyn’s only goal for each of her classes is to allow her students to leave inspired by their own centered energy; ever present in their physical body and spiritually full.
Living Room: The Living Room, located at the Inn at Stratton Mountain, is our beautiful new, 1800 SF yoga studio. Sunlight streams through a bank of windows on the northern wall, and a big, beautiful fireplace on the opposite wall boasts a toasty, roaring fire all winter long. Wood floors, warm colors, soft lighting, and open space, provide a welcoming, soothing place to practice yoga. We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat, however mats, and props are provided for your use.
On-Mountain Yoga: Ride the gondola up the mountain for Summit Yoga, held on the deck of Hubert Haus, or at the top of the Kiddebrook trail. Join us for a hike to the Mid-Mountain Lodge deck for yoga, or a hike to a beautiful bridge, where we practice yoga to the sound of the brook below. Bring your own mat, water, suntan lotion, bug repellent and a smile. Yoga is all about practicing being in the present moment. Being on the mountain, outside in nature, helps us quiet the mind and be present.
